Research The Competition
You know what you are doing to generate traffic, but it can be even more helpful to know what your competitors are doing. This is especially true if you know of a website that is ranking especially high in the search engines. You can map what they’ve done based on their articles, and tweak their strategies to perfection for your own uses.
For example, if you go to ezinearticles.com and search for the most viewed articles in your niche, you can usually determine what other websites are doing to rank so highly.
- You might take a look at the keywords they’ve used in the title.
- Notice the way they’ve crafted their article.
- Examine the resource box.
- You can also look at their profile and see just how many articles they have submitted.
- Check out the website they are linking to as well.
That way you can find out their search engine rankings in Google to get a feel for what these rankings are doing for them.

Prove Your Worth by Offering Something Worthy.
A lot of online marketers miss the boat by using bad content or half involved approaches to their market. Your website, blog or newsletter needs to be high quality and speak directly to your potential customers. Whatever you send their way needs to be relevant, coherent and honest. This means that you shouldn’t send a course on coupon cutting to a group of forex traders. You should also proofread and carefully edit your articles, blog posts and e-mail messages. Finally, you should be honest with your communication – don’t make promises that you can’t keep.
It’s Easier to Sell a Warm Customer Than a Cold Customer
Imagine the last time someone tried to sell something to you. How did you react? Did you shut down immediately and walk away or did you listen with attention and consider the points in front of you? The first is a common reaction to sales techniques, but you can actually achieve the latter if you are trying to sell to someone that you already know.
Think about it this way…are you more likely to purchase based on a recommendation from a friend or from a commercial? Friends and acquaintances win every time. Understanding this, it becomes clear why it’s important to develop a relationship with your market before hand. Turning someone from a cold customer to a warm customer is easy if you use the following steps.
Succeed at Making Money Online: Jump at Opportunities
If you are having problems with making money online and can’t seem to get started, you might need to take some advice from Ben Franklin. Although he died long before anyone even dreamed of making money online, his advice on the nature of success still applies today. One of my favorite pieces of advice is:
“To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions.”
At first glance you may think that by applying his advice you’d be jumping from business opportunity to business opportunity and basically be spinning your wheels. On the contrary, jumping on opportunities is a sound strategy for success as long as you are jumping on the right opportunities.
Without jumping on opportunities, you’ll be stuck in a rut forever. Taking a leap and doing something is the only way to success because it is the only way you’ll change from your current situation to a brand new one. Without these jumps, you’ll really be spinning your wheels and getting nothing done.
There are a few contingencies that you need to add to Franklin’s advice. After all, he didn’t work in an industry where there were dozens of new opportunities being sent into your inbox each day. You have to be selective about your opportunities. You need to filter them through the lens of what is important to your current business model.
Before you can be ready to jump on an opportunity, you have to be prepared. You have to have your business system in place so you know exactly what you need and what you don’t need when it comes to making your business work. In fact, make a list of the resources that you need to reach the next level of your business. If a new tool, program or service comes your way that fits in line with your goals for your business…go for it if it makes sense for your position and skill level.
You also need to have the resources to take advantage of an opportunity. Make sure you have a budget for materials, tools and programs each month. Don’t go broke trying to buy the next big thing when you already have all of the tools you need. If it’s time and not money that needs to be put into this opportunity, make sure that you have budgeted the time that you need by using good time management strategies.
Finally, you need to bust through any negative self talk that may be holding you back from taking advantage of opportunities that will help you succeed. If you spend all day long telling yourself that your plan will never work, you’ll never be able to see the opportunity as it arises in front of you. Stay positive about your business so you can build it on a solid foundation.
With these contingencies, you can be sure that you are jumping to the right opportunities that fit your goals. You can break out of your current level of success and grow your business by leaps and bounds.

Steps to Earning Online: The Importance of Courage
If you are reading this article hoping for a step by step approach to use one of the methods of making money online, I’m sorry to disappoint you. There are many guides that will show the ins and outs of a particular online strategy, but far too few people talk about the characteristics of success that are required to make money online. These are qualities that are necessary to develop on a personal level in order to see the success that you want in the public arena. If you don’t take the time to develop these characteristics, you’ll find yourself failing in your quest to make money online.
One of the most important success characteristics is courage. According to Merriam-Webster, courage is “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty” but for online money making purposes, I greatly prefer Winston Churchill’s definition.
He said “Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” This statement is particularly important when it comes to making money online. Failure is part of any venture, but it something that many people who want to earn money online don’t think about. They listen to the hype that claims that earning online is easy and it doesn’t require any effort.
While there are a lot of things that make an online business easier and more profitable than traditional business, to assume that it is completely failure free is a misconception. Failure does exist when you are trying to take steps to earning online. You may build a site that doesn’t pull in traffic. You may pick the wrong niche. You may not be able to make your traffic convert. There are plenty of opportunities to fail when you are trying to make money online.
However, if you want to see success you must have courage to keep trying. You must see each failure as an opportunity to learn more about what works and what doesn’t. You need to be enthusiastic about each failure to motivate yourself to keep going. When you have enthusiasm and you are excited about the process, you’ll be able to put your failures in perspective.
You’ll see each set back as a part of a larger process and you’ll have the dedication and drive to keep going.
Many people teach this philosophy, to learn from your mistakes, but Winston Churchill characterizes it as being courageous. Why? Going from failure to failure is courageous because very few people do it. If you look at most of the people around you, you’ll see that they use failure as an excuse to quit. They see setbacks as a sign from above that they should stop doing what they are doing and try something completely different.
If you have the courage to do something different from people around you, you’ll have the ability to learn from your mistakes and get closer to your goals. This is one of most important steps to earning online.
How to Rake in Internet Cash: Advice from Ben Franklin
If you want to know how to rake in Internet cash, there are many different routes you can take. While some of them will leave you with a stable and reputable online business, others will have you exploiting loopholes online in order to make a quick buck. Which should you choose? Perhaps you should take Ben Franklin’s advice.
Although he died long before the Internet was even conceived of, his advice still rings true today. One of my personal favorites from his vast body of wisdom is “A good conscience is a continual Christmas.” I believe that it holds true for many pursuits in life, but especially in Internet marketing.
In Internet marketing your “Christmas” can come in two different forms, much like the holiday itself. For most grown-ups, Christmas means feeling good and being happy. For kids, Christmas is all about the presents. Fortunately, when you own your online business and you act ethically you can experience both types of Christmas from your business.
Due to the nature of online business, there are plenty of opportunities for people to take actions that are a little bit shady or downright unethical. There is a lot of anonymity that comes with working online and many people use this opportunity to take steps that they wouldn’t if they had to look their customers in the face. In fact, there are even a selection of techniques called “black hat” techniques that exploit search engines and website visitors.
Although these techniques can and do work, that’s no way to run a business that you can take pride in. If you are making money off of taking advantage of others, it will only be a matter of time until your conscience creeps in and reminds you that what you are doing isn’t right. Do you really want to try to live with yourself by building a business on unscrupulous techniques?
Even if you don’t have a small voice inside telling you that black hat techniques aren’t the way to go, look at things from a more practical stand point. When you build your business ethically, you will see long term results from your websites. This is a continual Christmas because you’ll earn money from your business again and again.
“White hat” techniques help you build your business on a solid foundation. If you want to have a long term business online, your reputation is going to be very important. You can protect your reputation by using methods that respect your website visitors.
If you use black hat techniques, you’ll burn bridges with your target market. They’ll quickly learn that you and your websites shouldn’t be trusted. You’ll miss out on future sales because they won’t come back and visit your site.
However, if you build your business with ethical methods based on solid business principles, you’ll see return business and be able to make several sales from the same group of people time and time again. You’ll also be able to feel great about your business and take pride in what you do.
Business Mindset Do You Have It?

Dan
There’s a funny thing that happens to people when they start their own online business. I’m not sure if it stems from the tendency for online marketers to use hype-filled sales letters with words like “quick” and “easy” or if it’s from misconceptions about working at home. Whatever the reason is, there are a lot of people out there who think that once they set up a website or even start thinking about starting an online business that money will start falling out of the sky!
You have to work to get ahead in life…and this even applies to working online. There are two types of people that start businesses online. There are those that either have the business experience to know that rewards only come from hard work and there are those that believe the hype and pretend to work instead of actually getting things done. If you’re in the second category, this is your wakeup call!
You are not going to find online business success by spending all of your time in forums. You’re not going to see those commission checks or Paypal deposits coming in by chasing down the next big idea online. You won’t see it by telling yourself that you deserve the afternoon off instead of doing what you should be doing on your path to online success.
The only way you are going to make your online business work is to work at it. Working for yourself requires a great deal of self discipline. If you don’t have self discipline, you’re going to need to build up that strength before you’ll see any success. You need a strong work ethic so you can do what you need to do, even if your favorite show is on or it’s a beautiful day to walk in the park.
The first step is to set clear reachable goals for yourself. Be sure to set goals that are realistic for the next week and the next month. Write down your goals somewhere near your workspace so you can keep yourself focused.
Next, you’re going to have to identify what is work and what is not. When you work online, you may develop a clever way of tricking yourself into thinking that you are working when you are not. Searching for your website’s name on Google or reading the latest blog post from your favorite motivational author is not working. Creating content, developing backlinks, writing a product or taking part in advertising is working. There is a lot of time for all of those other activities, but save them for after you’ve completed your goal for the day.
If you’re not used to being self disciplined, it may take some time and some practice for you to develop this skill. But it will be well worth it when you start seeing results from your efforts. As long as you remember that you have to work to get ahead online and keep your goals nearby, you’ll be able to get the work done that you need to.

Learning Write Well The Benjamin Franklin Way
…when my Father happened to find my papers…he took occasion to talk to me about the manner of my writing, observed that although I had the advantage of my antagonist in correct spelling and pointing (which I owed to the printing house), I fell far short in elegance of expression, in method and perspicuity, of which he convinced me by several instances. I saw the justice of his remarks, and thence grew more attentive to the manner in writing, and determined to endeavor at improvement.
About this time I met with an odd volume of the Spectator. It was the third. I had never before seen any of them. I bought it, read it over and over and was much delighted with it. I thought the writing excellent, and wished if possible to imitate it. With that view, I took some of the papers and making short hints of the sentiment in each sentence, laid them by a few days, and the without looking at he book, tried to complete the papers again, by expressing each hinted sentiment at length and fully as it had been expressed before in and suitable words that should come to hand.
Then I compared my Specter with the original, discovered some of my faults and corrected them. But I found I wanted a stock of words of readiness in recollecting and using them, (which I thought I should have acquired before that time), since the continual occasion for words of the same import but of different length, to suit the measure of of different sound for the rhyme would have laid me under a constant necessity of searching foe variety, and also have tended to fix variety in my mind, and make me master it.
I also sometimes jumbled my collections of hints into confusion, and after some weeks endeavored to reduce them into the best order, before I began to to form the full sentences and complete the paper. This was to teach me method in the arrangement of thoughts, By comparing my work afterwards with the original, I discovered many faults and amended them; but I sometimes had the pleasure of fancying that in certain particulars of small import, I had been lucky enough to improve the method or the language and this encouraged me to think I might possibly in time come to be a tolerable English writer, of which I was extremely ambitious.
