The Obama Proof Investment
As the economy continues to barely survive on life support, it seems like there are more and more calls for nationalized government programs. For example, in the spring of 2009 President Obama proposed a 2010 takeover of 401ks and the implementation of nationalized pension plans.
No matter what your politics are, losing the investments that you put into your 401K is no walk in the park. This proposed change to the national budget is just another example of the turbulent times we live in. There is a lot of change on the horizon which may be difficult for some people to accept. Just as the forefathers of this nation faced a lot of uncertainty, many people think that our nation is facing the same type of crisis.
It makes sense to look back to the forefathers’ wisdom when facing these uncertain times. Ben Franklin, the great statesmen and founder of the nation, would have one piece of advice to those who are worried that Obama will take away independent 401Ks:
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
If you are concerned about your investments, start investing in a place where the government can’t take it away. Education is the most powerful investment that you can make. Whether you are just starting out in your career or are facing retirement, you can make an investment in your own mind that will last a lifetime.
Education goes well beyond formal schooling. If you think that having a Master’s degree or PhD is what you need to make an investment in your mind, think again. Take Benjamin Franklin for example. He was well schooled in a variety of different subjects and always challenged himself to learn more. You should do the same.
Take it upon yourself to become more educated on subjects that interest you. Learn the secrets of managing money wisely from experts. Teach yourself how to cook your favorite meals at home. Become well versed in literary classics. Whatever you choose, your time will be well spent because you’ll be enriching your life and creating more wealth of experience for yourself and those around you.
One of the best ways to increase your education and create a sense of financial freedom is to invest in learning about owning your own business. Learning the skills you need to own your own business and taking steps toward creating a supplemental or full time income for yourself is one of the best investments of your time and money. Although you can definitely spend your time learning about anything that you want, you will be well rewarded from learning from others who have taken steps to develop a small business. To top it off, learning how to run a small business can set you on the path to financial freedom, which will further protect your investments and your financial well being.
To learn, simply model your success after others. Find experts in the field that you want to explore and begin learning from their successes and mistakes. In no time at all, you’ll be an expert at what you do. And as Benjamin Franklin said “If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it from him.”

Oh, The Dreaded ‘B’ Word
Oh, the dreaded ‘B’ word! No, not THAT ‘B’ word I’m talking about the BUDGET ‘B’ word. The formula for determining profit is a really simple one and the one that all budgets are based upon. Income – Expenses = Profit.
It isn’t complicated and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that there are two ways to improve your profit; (1) increase income or (2) decrease expenses. If you can figure out how to both simultaneously, please let me know how.
It would be really nice if we could just crank up the burners and make more money, wouldn’t it? Unfortunately increasing income is much harder than decreasing expenses when it comes to improving your bottom line.
I don’t know why people make this so complicated. This is the rule that is broken every time a business fails and no business is to big to fail break the rule you fail! No one and no business no government is excused form this formula it will prevail. I can rant and rant on this it needs to be burned into modern culture.
Light shows us the way
All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.” -John Adams

Leadership speaks
“Because power corrupts, society’s demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.”-John Adams
I just wanted to add this quote to my rants because I whole heartedly agree. This principle is universal and it applies to any organization your family, your place of worship, your business, your government.
Leadership has an obligation to speak and to speak what is true.

Hurry, Hurry, Hurry
Last night my daughter and I went out for date night. Across the restaurant there were three men seated at a table all seem to be enjoying the food. They were seated in my line of sight directly behind my daughter (don’t want anyone to think I was staring). I notice one of the gentleman in his 50’s look to be downs syndrome and I observed he was also deaf. My heart went out to him. I thought how great is this that these two men would take him out to enjoy such a fine meal. This whole seen was hidden from my daughters view.
The man with the challenges in life was thoroughly enjoying the meal taking his time and savoring the whole experience the other two men were finished while he just continued to enjoy he was not in a hurry had no sense of urgency. The other two became impatient they were busy cell phones a blazing restless, but he was not to be rushed, he just kept on enjoying the meal and was not at all caught up in there business. Well this made one of them men quite angry and he just walk out. I thought to myself why are we in such a hurry busy busy busy. It is foolishness!
I have taken this all to heart there is no hurry there is nothing that important just stop relax enjoy life. Savor it turn the cell phone off check messages once a day maybe of once a week. WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT! Most things will take care of them selves. There really are very few emergencies. I don’t think history will look back on us and laugh and say how could we have been so blind. What were they thinking! As our evening progressed I thought how blessed I am to share this time with my daughter. We weren’t in a hurry and just to prove it to ourselves we to the long way home slowly and enjoyed the journey! We decided to beware of this spirit of the age that wants to influence us and steal life.

Opportunity Dressed in Overalls?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work-Thomas Edison
We were designed from the beginning for work and it was intended to bring satisfaction and fulfillment. I never did a day’s work in my life. It was all fun.-Thomas Edison
My question for us is, Is that true of our lives?

Poverty Travels Slowly

Rembrandt
I think it is hard thing when the government taxes us its people a whopping 10% plus 7.65% for FICA/SECA that is 17.65% for any one making over $8,350 per year! That is 17.65% of your time is employed in its service. Which is 1:40 minimum of your 8 hour work day gone to some politicians idea of freedom. If your self employed it can be as high as 50.3% plus state and local taxes. As corrupt as this is there is something worse than high taxes that can consume us like a rust, idleness. I am reminded of a painting by Rembrandt “The Deadly Sin of Sloth”. All of us have a limited amount of time it is the very stuff that life is made of! Time is the most precious thing we spend. So let us stop wishing and hoping for change “he that lives on hope dies fasting” If you have a trade you have wealth; If you have an estate you have wealth; if you have a calling you have wealth; however they must be worked to have life. Taxes on our labor is a sure thing; but beware by laziness poverty travels slowly and overtakes you.
Doesn’t she look peaceful don’t be deceived by sloth! High taxes are bad Sloth is worse. High taxes rob you of your time! Sloth robs you of your life.
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. Proverbs 6:10-12 (King James Version) Discover the 8 secrets of the successfully employed here at http://stayemployed.aimize.com/
What about these times?
I think times may be bad, but let us consider a few things and see if this is not our own fault. This is advice for every one especially those of us who are working people, witch is most of us. We need to adopt a vision for our personal lives to live within our income and the further within the better! We need to pay as we go in our household budget. In plane language NO CEDIT CARDS. When hard times come they won’t be hard in fact they can get easier as the economy slows and prices drop. Never get in debt as long as you are working; keep a journal of daily expenses and of every useless expense. Also track every days wages and every idle day. ”Our expenses are doubled by idleness, and trebled (tripled) by pride and folly; and these can only be abated by our own exertions.”-Benjamin Franklin It may be that times are bad, but our hard times may be our own fault; expenses are always curtain; work and the ability to work is not; we need this good advice to live free.
